US Jobless Claims Rise to Worst Level in a Month

US jobless claims rose unexpectedly for the week of August 8th climbing to 576K from 559K projected. Continuing claims also increased from 6202K the period prior to 6241K in the current week. This was the worst reading in weekly joblessness in nearly a month, but today’s data stayed well below the worst levels of May and June when weekly jobless
