Positive session as US benefits claims fall

The number of workers claiming jobless benefits in the US fell by 6,000 to 439,000 for the week ending March 27. The four-week moving average also fell to the lowest level since September 2008. The FTSE 100 Index ended the day up 65.3 points at 5744.9.
