Canadian Employment Disappoints - Will NFP As Well?

Canadian employment contracted unexpectedly printing at -2.6K versus estimates of 20K gain. The losses were led by transportation and public sectors keeping the unemployment rate near multi year highs of 8.5%. Both full time and part time employment decreased suggesting that labor markets were uniformly soft ahead of the Christmas shopping season.
