Plenty of commodities outperforming gold

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. The last time I wrote in these pages about gold ("Fool's gold," Dec. 27, 2009), my skepticism went "viral" and missives bearing cheery salutations like "moron," "idiot" and worse kept the Star's servers busy.
