For Now, Australian Central Bank Holds Off on More Easing

In keeping with analysts’ expectations, the Reserve Bank of Australia’s monetary policy board decided to hold its benchmark rate at 3.5% as it considers the impact of the last two rate cuts on the Australian economy. The hope is that the May and June rate cuts will effectively insulate Australia’s economy from the slowdown in global growth.
