Toronto stock closes lower, gold stocks; dollar flat

The S&P/TSX composite index closed down 26.18 points to 11,543.47 after earlier falling more than 100 points. Gold stocks were the biggest losers, falling 1.8 per cent as the price of the yellow metal fell $6.30 to US$1,181.90 an ounce.
